This is one of the last "old school" Chinese restaurants in the area. For special occasions (or simply a night out) call ahead a day or so to order their crab or whole fish specialties. They also have medium and large tables with Lazy Susans (from the 50's) for big groups. This is a fun and nostalgic place!

This establishment is a hidden gem in Nob Hill, offering traditional and delicious Chinese cuisine without any fuss. I typically place my orders over the phone, and they are ready for pickup within 15 minutes. The interior features plenty of seating, and while it tends to be crowded on weekend evenings, it is usually less busy at other times. Parking is easy to find around the area. There is metered and regular street parking. Just make sure you review the street signs before leaving your car. There is a CVS and Trader Joe's in front of the restaurant. The service here is excellent; the staff has come to recognize me due to my frequent orders and consistent choice of dishes, which include: - Honey Glazed Walnut Prawns - Chicken Chow Mein - Mongolian Beef - Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with a craving for authentic, scrumptious Chinese food.

The lunch special is one of the best in the city. I go every Wednesday because the sea is so great.

The food is delicious, well priced, and the service is phenomenal. Have always enjoyed getting takeout here!

The Cantonese fare here is really top notch. It's a hidden gem that few know about and I hope they don't go out of business bc it is never crowded. It's tucked away in a neighborhood across the street from what used to be Cala Foods, now Trader Joe's. The prices are really decent too. I hope more people would patron them so stay in business! Our latest meal there consisted of the cheapest family meal set. $57 for 5 dishes which is unheard of. It all was good. Westlake soup, their sweet and sour (or is it called peking) spare ribs are the best ever!, steamed chicken which one of us loves, stir fried bok choy, and we subbed the shrimp and mixed veggies dish with salt and pepper tofu. It was all delicious. We also added chow mein and a curry pork chop dish. Everything was 4 or 5 out of 5. This place is never a disappointment.

Delicious wok made food in the neighborhood. So glad to have an authentic Chinese spot in such a convenient location! Huge menu with plenty of banquet or homey dishes including family meals. We got a bunch of different dishes, fried tofu with scallops, string beans, stew pork belly, and steam pork. Everything was cooked well with generous portions. So delicious. Service was good too, quick and attentive. Plenty of seating in the restaurant. Would recommend!

For some reason finding an amazing Chinese restaurant is just more exciting than many types of food. Maybe it's because you can never get a sense of the quality from the decor, or even from the online ratings (ever notice how 95% of Chinese restaurant always have 3.5 stars?). It's kept a mystery until that very first bite when it all becomes clear. The Golden Horse is one of those places were the first bite makes you say "Yes! This is it!". This is what you want from your local Chinese restaurant, absolutely delicious and flavorful food that makes you want to stuff yourself until you can't get up from the table. We had a big party so we ordered quite a variety of dishes and thankfully they were all awesome. Beef Chow Fun, Salt Baked Pork Spareribs, String Beans, Mar-Pao Tofu, Cod in Black Bean Sauce, honestly I would recommend it all. And the prices? Excellent. When the bill came I felt like I had stepped out of a time-machine into the year 2017 before inflation and supply chain issues raised the prices at every restaurant 50% and we all just had to grin and bear it. I've been to my share of Chinese restaurants and this is easily in my Top 3. I only wish I lived in San Francisco so I could make it a regular staple.

I like ordering through DoorDash and picking up on days I feel like doing takeout. Usually order two sides to share and cook rice and some quick veggies at home to pair with the dishes. The food comes out very fast and picking up is super easy. I always get their Honey Walnut Shrimp. Love the candied walnuts in the dish and the shrimp is tangy and sweet. The Broccoli Beef and Spicy Salted Spareribs are also good choices.
